Donald Trump Exposes Elon Musk’s ‘Deep Fear’ in Tense Interview as Friendship Rumors Swirl

The close bond between President Donald Trump and his ‘first buddy’ Elon Musk has been the subject of recent speculation, with rumors suggesting their friendship might be in jeopardy. However, both Trump and Musk have firmly dismissed these claims, reaffirming the strength of their relationship.

The friendship between the 78-year-old Republican president and the billionaire tech mogul deepened during Trump’s 2024 campaign trail. This connection eventually led to Musk being appointed as a special government employee within the Department for Government Efficiency (DOGE). Recently, Trump has addressed and dispelled rumors of a fallout between the two, emphasizing that their bond remains intact.

In a preview of an upcoming interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Trump and Musk discussed the media’s alleged efforts to drive a wedge between them. Hannity highlighted how certain media outlets, including The Washington Post, the New York Times, and various cable news networks, had aggressively targeted Trump during his re-election campaign. Hannity remarked, “Now I see they want you two to start hating each other. They want a divorce. President Elon Musk, for example.”

Trump responded by acknowledging the media’s attempts to create division, stating, “Oh, I see it all the time. They have many different things of hatred. Actually, Elon called me and said, ‘You know they are trying to drive us apart?’ I said, ‘Absolutely.’” The president also humorously addressed the media’s references to Musk as “President Musk” and joked about Musk calling a cabinet meeting, which elicited laughter from the tech billionaire.

Trump further criticized the media, claiming that no other president in history has received more negative publicity than he has. “I could do the greatest things, and I still get 98 percent bad publicity,” he said. He praised Hannity and Fox News for their support, particularly as the network investigates alleged media bias from other outlets. Musk echoed Trump’s sentiments, agreeing that the public understands the situation and can see through the media’s tactics.

This revealing interview comes amid reports of tension between Musk’s role at DOGE and Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles. Despite their current camaraderie, Trump and Musk have not always had a smooth relationship. In 2016, Musk publicly stated that Trump was “not the right guy” to lead the country. A year later, Musk resigned from presidential advisory boards and criticized Trump for withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on climate change.

However, their relationship appeared to mend over time. In 2022, Trump praised Musk as one of the world’s “greatest geniuses,” though he later referred to him as a “bulls*** artist” when Musk announced his plans to acquire Twitter. Musk responded by saying, “I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset.”

Despite these past disagreements, Musk reinstated Trump’s Twitter account in late 2022 and expressed support for some of Trump’s policies, such as the US-Mexico border wall. By the summer of 2024, Musk donated $45 million monthly to a new pro-Trump Super PAC, further solidifying their alliance. In August 2024, Trump hinted that Musk could lead a new government efficiency initiative, and later that year, Trump traveled to Texas to witness a SpaceX Starship launch.

Media reports suggest that Trump and Musk now spend nearly every day together, with Musk humorously referring to himself as the “First Buddy.” The full interview between the two is scheduled to air on Tuesday, offering further insights into their unique and evolving friendship.
